Announcement

W P Williams will cease trading on 30th September 2024, after supplying shallots at home and abroad since 1863.  It has been a real privilege to be part of the organ building industry since 2007, and I have gained enormous pleasure from my tiny contribution to many pipe organs, ranging from small and understated to huge and magnificent.  Health allowing, I hope to spend some of my retirement visiting a number of the organs and admiring the work of the organ builders, pipe makers and voicers who have served the industry with such dedication and precision over their lifetime.

My introduction to the industry came from the late Dr David Frostick, who was a great mentor in the early days and to whom I’m indebted for passing on his skill, knowledge and experience.  I must also pay tribute to the late Robin Stannard, my predecessor, who dedicated his whole working life to making shallots.

I’m pleased that the specialist machinery and tools (much of them original) have been acquisitioned by Harrison & Harrison Ltd, and so will continue their working life in Durham.

Whilst I will no longer be making shallots, I will continue to make reed springs and be available for small bespoke engineering work, using my own name and email address for business purposes – please use the contact page to send a message.

Thank you to all my customers for their support over the last 17 years.  It has been such a privilege to be part of your industry.
